Nestled discreetly within a dense inner urban setting, Grafton Street House is an exercise in composure and precision.
Defined by a considered palette of materials, the home reveals itself gradually, opening inward to a sequence of tranquil, light filled spaces that extend seamlessly toward the surrounding garden. The brief sought to create a private retreat with a meaningful connection to the outdoors, a balance that is often difficult to achieve in compact urban contexts where privacy and openness compete. Here, that tension is resolved with clarity and confidence.
The street presence remains intentionally understated, offering a modest and controlled interface with its surroundings. Beyond this threshold, the interior expands generously, with large glazed openings and sliding elements inviting natural light deep into the plan while establishing a constant dialogue with landscape. A sense of calm is immediate and enduring, supported by a layout that encourages intuitive movement and a soft progression of light and shadow across the day.
